Sheldon Tawhai


I commenced my career in the hospitality industry in 2010, working my way up through various roles in New Zealand. I have gained extensive experience in front-line positions and management roles within the hospitality sector, including fine dining, fast-paced bars, and restaurants.

For the past 5 years, I have been a part of the EVVT Group, currently serving as the General Manager at Lylo Auckland, where I oversee all facets of business operations with a strong focus on revenue growth, cost control, and team development. My leadership has been instrumental in driving profitability and enhancing guest experiences, earning recognition with several awards, including the 2024 Wyse Awards for World's Best Hostel and the 2024 Hospitality New Zealand Award for Best Accommodation Provider Non-Hotel/Motel.

Previously, as Rooftop Floor Manager at QT Auckland, I played a key role in managing floor operations, training staff, and delivering exceptional service. My efforts in event and conferencing management, marketing initiatives, and resolving operational challenges earned me the title of Employee of the Year in 2022.
