Tanky Zong


Tanky Zong is a seasoned hospitality professional and visionary entrepreneur who has made a lasting impact on New Zealand’s food and beverage industry. With a background spanning professional Chinese and Western cuisine, bartending, wine tasting, and specialty coffee, Tanky brings a rare blend of creativity, technical expertise, and market insight.
As the former owner of Zong Kitchen in Takapuna and the current owner-manager of Eden Noodles and Bar Ponsonby, Tanky is known for his leadership in kitchen operations and innovative brand positioning. He is the initiator of Auckland’s acclaimed “Eat All You Can” event, which pioneered a new approach to inclusive and experiential dining.
In addition to his restaurant ventures, Tanky has served as a consultant for a number of bars, restaurants, and cafés, including Gaga Café and Gwen Bar, where he led cocktail menu design with a focus on local appeal and modern flavor profiles. His strategic and creative contributions have helped elevate beverage programs and customer experiences across Auckland's hospitality scene.
