Move to Orange welcomed by hospitality, recovery will be slow
Moving to the Orange setting before Easter is great news for many hospitality businesses, says Hospitality New Zealand.
“This will make a difference to bigger venues, especially with the long Anzac weekend following, and will hopefully give people more confidence to get out and about for coffees and meals in smaller venues as well,” says Chief Executive Julie White.
“It’s very short notice for many, but better late than never, and I know they will do their best to welcome everyone back.
“Coinciding with the borders opening to Australians, this really is the time to get going and make up for lost ground.
“The road to recovery for thousands of businesses will be slow, but getting started is vital.
“The added boost of international borders opening in July, or hopefully earlier, and in time for the ski season will be eagerly awaited.
“On behalf of all hospitality and accommodation venues throughout the country, I would like to have a huge shout-out to Kiwis for their tremendous and ongoing support during these past two very long years.
“Without your support during these testing times for us all, often going out of your way to visit our venues, have saved businesses, jobs and kept communities going.
“Now let’s celebrate our new-found freedom together.”
